Shewa Dal residents demand resumption of bridge work | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT DODA, July 24: The people of Shewa Dal of Mohalla area in Doda district have demanded immediate start of construction of Shewa Dal-Mohalla single lane motorable bridge the work of which has been stopped since 3-4 months. The locals raised the demand in a meeting held today wherein hundreds of villagers of the area participated. It is pertinent to mention here that former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad had approved and sanctioned the said motorable bridge, the inauguration of which was done by Former R&B Minister Ghulam Mohammad Saroori in 2009. The villagers alleged that Principal Secretary of Works Department visited the area in April 2011 where he directed JKPCC to stop the work of the bridge. The villagers further said if the motorable bridge would be completed will feed the population of around 58 thousand people who are suffering badly facing great hardships over the stoppage of this bridge as such they are still cut off with the National highway till date. They criticized the State Government for showing callous attitude towards the people of this region. |
