Cong demands early establishment of CU-J | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 24: Congress has demanded early establishment of Central University in Jammu. The demand was raised in a meeting of the Congress Workers held under the chairmanship of Krishan Lal Gupta State Secy J&K Pradesh Congress Committee. Krishan Lal Gupta while addressing the media expressed concern over the unnecessary delay in establishing the central university in Jammu. Gupta said that when central govt had recommended two universities in a special case for J&K and central university in Kashmir has started its functioning for the last two years but inspite of demarcation of land for the central university in Jammu govt has not taken any step for the appointment of Vice Chancellor or creating any other infrastructure for starting central university in Jammu. Gupta said when Prof Saif-ud-din Soz former union Cabinet minister president JKPCC, MP Madan Lal Sharma are keen for solving the problems discrimination some leaders with vested interest are delaying this work on the one pretext to the others. Other Members in the conference condemned the police lathi charge upon the students and suppressing the voice of Jammu Region by force. All the participants were of the view that central university should be opened earliest and made functional without any further delay. Congress workers also appealed the students and other agitators to hold their demonstrations peacefully, so that people at large and especially yatris of Amarnath Shrine, Mata Vaishno Devi and other visitors are not put to any inconvenient.
