Srinagar, July 24: Simranjeet Singh Mann, president of Shiromani Akali Dal (Mann) had to leave the Valley today as authorities denied him the permission to go to a Baramulla Sikh village where he had been invited to address a Sikh gathering. Mann had been advised by Srinagar district magistrate, Mehraj-ud-Din Kakroo that he would not be allowed to proceed to Baramulla village where his presence could result in a law and order situation for the administration. The district magistrate also advised Mann and 15 other SAD leaders who had come to the Valley with him to leave as their presence was a law and threat. The decision of the Srinagar district magistrate was conveyed to Mann through the local police. "I, District Magistrate Srinagar in exercise of powers vested in me by virtue of Section 144 CrPC impose restrictions on the stay/movements of Shri Siramjit Singh Mann in District Srinagar," the district magistrate's order read. Mann and other SAD leaders were detained inside the Gurudwara at Baghat-e-Barzalla in Srinagar for the entire day yesterday and they left for Jammu by road today morning.
Jaskaran Singh Kahansinghwala, the general secretary of SAD said there was no democracy and rule of law in Jammu and Kashmir. "There is lot of suppression and stress due to imposition of black laws like AFSPA," he said.
