Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's 'advice' to KPs: Assert minority status | Will the J&K government allow community to accrue its benefits ....? | | Early Times Report jammu, July 24: At a time when Kashmiri Pandits are trying to rebuild their bonds with the motherland Kashmir after remaining in exile for over two decades, spriritual Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's advice has come as a reinforcing strategy which the community needs to follow in spirit. Sri Sri has counted the success of the community basically on two issues- unity in the otherwise fragmented community and ascertaining their minority status by dint of which they can assert on their rights on everything. The moot question remains will the government allow community to accrue benefits on this front ? In a function where the spiritual addressed the Pandit community, the undercurrent of his statements was that even though the community has excelled in post migration period while facing hardships and difficulties, it has not yet achieved what it should have nor has it been able to retain its complete identity and save its rich heritage and cultural bondages with Kashmir. In his subtle message to the community, Sri Sri underlined the necessity of having unity among the community , which is main weapon to achieve success on every front. As unity eludes for the scattered and fragmented community, thy are not able to assert on their rights and reclaim linkages with the motherland in as powerful manner as they can when united. This was the inference of the advice Guru Ravi Shankar while he spoke to them. In other words it was conveyed well to the community that since they continue to remain divided on issues from smaller ones to key ones, their voice is not being heard, leave alone it getting registered in any quarter where things matter in terms of action . It goes without saying that on the ley issue of return and rehabilitation, despite having a well laid out policy, the government has been managing affairs with only 'lip service' as the divided and fragmented community scattered all over the country. Such a state of the community not only suits the government both at centre and state, but also such forces which do not want the migrated community to reclaim their identity back in Valley as the original subjects. The spiritual Guru also gave advice to Kashmiri Pandit community to usher in the business ventures, no matter they have excelled in rest other fields but this was also need of the hour to assert their status in their homeland. Apart from reclaiming their left out property, assets and other things, Sri Sri's emphasis was that the Pandit community must continue to build linkages with Valley if it has to retain and sustain its age old identity in terms of saving and promoting its rich heritage and culture to future generations. The symbolic presence of these rich cultural bonds instead of allowing to be diluted by not paying enough attention , needs to be enriched and strengthened further- that is the need of the hour. Sri Sri has assured his full support in whatever way he can . He has given vital indications in this direction- sufficient for the community to harness and seek guidance. Though spiritual Guru for a long time has been a well wisher assuring cooperation and support but the community going in different directions has not been able to 'encash' anything'. However, the fresh advice on manifold things has certainly made many a minds to give serious thought. When things would actualise, remains to be seen. |
