Germany revised earlier travel advisory to citizens visiting J&K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Jul 25 : The Federal Foreign Office (FFO) of Germany has revised the travel advisory to its nationals visiting the Kashmir valley, Jammu region and Ladakh. The FFO Germany and other European countries had issued an advisory to their citizens, asking them not to visit Kashmir valley because of turmoil. Germany was the first country to revise the travel advisory, Jens Urban, Head of Press and Public Relations Section, German Embassy, New Delhi said in a fax message to UNI here. Mr Urban said he would like to inform that the travel advisory issued by the FFO for German nationals travelling to the region has been revised. The significant revision in the advisory regarding Kashmir gave an overview of the security situation in the valley and clarified that the situation had now calmed down considerably and said, ''foreigners are generally not direct targets of clashes.'' Regarding Jammu, the new advisory stated that the region was basically stable, though the situation might change and travellers were advised to obtain information regarding the security situation prior to their visit.
For Ladakh, the earlier advisory's reference to the 2010 floods and unsafe trek routes had been removed.
The new advisory recommended trekkers to travel with trained local guides and to avoid border areas due to security considerations. It also advised tourists to acquire the requisite permissions to visit Ladakh.
