Srinagar, Nov 29 Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad said on Wednesday that people of the state are fed up with hollow slogans and peace disturbing attitude created by vested interests. He said categorical denial by people to get carried away by slogans touching sentiments and emotions is quite evident on ground and added that public involvement and participation in process of reconstruction and restoration of peace should serve writing on wall for violence mongers and peace detractors. Chief Minister was addressing a huge public meeting organized by Welfare Forum of the area at Vilgam in Kupwara district. He said “falsehood and deceitful tactics to led astray people doesn’t hold water for long time, truth always prevails and exploiters get exposed”. He said his strength lies in the support of general masses, real fountainhead of power and masters in a democratic set-up like ours. Thanking people for rendering him fullest support in his endeavors to eradicate corruption from the administration and book corrupt, he said his every step taken during last one year for the development and benefit of state and putting shattered economy back on rails received enthusiastic support from all sections of the society. “This has given fillip to my determination to take revolutionary steps to relieve the society and the economy from the clutches of unscrupulous elements who have gathered enormous mass of wealth by eating up share of poor and needy”, he maintained. Chief Minister said my new initiative to retrieve illegally occupied state land from encroachers and realize the cost is yet another step towards purifying the state from evil practices. He said encroachment on 20 lakh kanals of land worth Rs. 25000 crore is not a small thing. “We have to plug such loopholes for ever to protect the economy of state from being eaten up by unscrupulous and corrupt elements”. He said that truthfulness is his approach and actions based on justice, as such, receive positive reception from all over. Chief Minister asked the people to be vanguard force in his war against corruption, high handedness, looting of public property and contribute actively in creating a transparent and healthy work culture where justice and equitable development will rule the roost. Chief Minister said that the state has witnessed a saga of bloodshed and economic destabilization during the period of militancy and development process became standstill. “People have witnessed lot of miseries and suppression. Now a new era of development has been set in place with huge central assistance. This scenario requires healthy workmanship temperament and zeal and quest to translate it into reality. All of us have to contribute to realize the goal of prosperity and restore peace in the state, imperative for creating conditions for progress and development”, he added. Chief Minister said that historic decisions have been taken to create new administrative units to take administration to the remotest areas, laws have been enacted to downsize ministry, discourage and ban political defection, make anti-corruption laws more stringent, confiscate ill-gotten property of proven corrupt elements and constitute Finance Commission, which all received encouraging full public support. Speaking on the occasion, senior Vice President and MLC Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil said that Mr. Azad is first Chief Minister who has made it possible to pre-pone the budget session and make it possible for the administration to earmark funds well before the beginning of financial year and implement development schemes well in time. He said Mr. Azad is also first Chief Minister who has never exploited people with hollow slogans but truthfulness and plain speaking is his hallmark. Mr. Vakil said that Mr. Azad is also only such leader who has no personal agenda of installing his progeny after him but his commitment is only for people’s upliftment and state’s benefit.
