11/29/2006 10:53:33 PM

Srinagar, Nov 29
Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad said here today that in an era of education, technology, science and globalization State’s present student generation has to keep pace with new dynamics in education. He complimented Burn Hall and similar other schools that in 90’s when everybody left the state they proved their braveness and dedication towards their goal of imparting good education.
Addressing a function at Burn Hall School here, Chief Minister said he was happy to note that Grand Parents Day was celebrated. He directed all government schools and institutions to introduce celebration of Grand Parents Day because it brings three generations together.
Chief Minister emphasized that nation and character building are very important components of education and advised full heed should be given to them so that new generation is groomed in ideal manner. He lamented the fact that after getting good education in the state and becoming doctors and engineers some people prefer to serve abroad for the sake of money. He said that they are not getting full satisfaction by serving outside even though they are getting lot of money because it is not money which matters but serving the people which matters most.
Chief Minister said that character building and discipline are important factors, which are being taught at the basic level. He hoped that much more importance will be given towards these aspects so that the future generation is groomed for taking the nation and state to new heights. He said that education does not merely mean getting degrees but learning how to be polite, humble, kind, truthful and disciplined.
Principal Burn Hall School Father Mariya John presented the welcome address and expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister that despite a hectic schedule he spared time enough to attend this function. He also gave a resume of the functioning of the institution.
Chairman Handicrafts Development Corporation Haji Abdul Rasheed, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Bank Dr. Haseeb Drabu, Rev. Dr. Peter Celestine senior officers, teachers, educationists, alumni and students were present on this occasion.
