| Rain plays spoilsport as Omar fails to reach Chenani | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU: Rain played spoilsport as, due to heavy showers, chief minister Omar Abdullah failed to reach Chenani, about 80 km from here on the Jammu-Srinagar road, to lay the foundation stone of the prestigious Chenani-Nashri road tunnel.
The function was slated for 2.30 pm. All the arrangements for it had been done and police were camping in the area since yesterday for Omar's security.
But heavy downpur played the spoilsport. Even as deputy CM Tara Chand and senior police officers reached there in the morning, Omar could not which forced the authorities to cancel the function.
A separate date would now be announced for the foundation stone laying ceremony, official sources said |
