Revenue records mutated to grab Pandits' land in Valley | | | EARLY TIMES Report JAMMU, July 25: Notwithstanding the claims of State Government to take Kashmiri Pandits back to Valley with honour and dignity, the unabated encroachments of KPs land is at galore in Valley. Despite the pleas of the displaced people belonging to minority community to restore their land in Valley which over the years has been encroached by anti social elements, the Government has not only failed to restore the same but it could not stop the fresh encroachers of migrants land in Valley. According to sources thousands canals of land belonging to displaced pandits and their religious places has been encroached by anti social elements in Kashmir Valley since the mass exodus of the community in 1989-90 and Government despite making tall claims of taking the community back to their homes and hearths has failed to restore this land. Not only this but at various places the KPs land has itself been either encroached by Government agencies or they have encouraged the unscrupulous elements to do the same. At various places the revenue records were mutated to grab this land, sources added. While in shopian a bus stand was constructed over the residential complex of KPs at Shopian Batpora by Government itself without taking any consent from the owners of the property who had migrated to Jammu after the terrorism hit the Valley in 1989-90, its various agencies have also encroached the Hindu religious places land in Sopore, in Baramulla district of North Kashmir where a bridge and road was constructed by PWD over the land belonging to Hindu Cremation ground. Besides at Sagam in Anantnag district a dispensary and Rural Development Department office was also constructed at the land of a Hindu Shrine. The Hindu religious places land has also been encroached by RDD in Wanpoh Anantnag and Munghama in Pulwama district of South Kashmir. In addition to it the land and private property of Hindus has been encroached by unscrupulous elements in every part of Valley in connivance of the administration. At Wasura Pulwama the land of a Hindu family has been encroached by a member of majority community who has backing of one of the ministers in coalition Government. When the aggrieved party approached DC Pulwama for the same he showed his helplessness saying that he can't take any action as the Minister has given instructions not to act against the person. Likewise in village Haal of the same district some members of majority community from Kishtwar have forcibly encroached the land of minority hindus presently leading an exiled life in Jammu and other parts of the country. These encroachers have full backing of the tehsil and district administration, said Brij Lal Hali an aggrieved Pandit. He said despite repeated pleas to tehsil and district administration they failed to restore their land. Mr Hali has sought immediate intervention of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Minister of Revenue Raman Bhalla in the matter. Besides the shopping complex of a Kashmiri Pandit was encroached in village Drusoo, Pulwama by some anti social elements and surrendered militants after forging the documents. The aggrieved party is crying a hoarse but to no avail. Taking serious exception to increasing land encroachment in Valley, Vir Saraf convener Roots in Kashmir (RIK) said the Government was responsible for growing encroachment of KPs property in Valley. He termed all the claims of the Government on return of the community as hollow saying the houses of the Pandits were razed to ground while the land has been mostly encroached. This is a serious issue, he added. He warned that KPs will come to streets in case the immediate steps were not taken by Government in restoring their land and property. ``The RIK will also approach the rights organization for seeking justice against the callousness and biased approach of State Government'' he added. |
