Chenab valley council hails Gorkhaland agreement | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jul 22: Member of all party action committee Chenab valley hill development Council held a meeting here at Jammu and strongly hailed the agreement between Gorkha Land movement leaders and central government. Hailing the decision, the Chenab Valley Hill Development Council leaders urged upon the state coalition government to pay heed to the long pending demands of Chenab Valley region for granting the council status to it on the analogy of Leh and Kargil since this region is most backward remote, in accessible, snow bound and hilly. Leaders said that Himachal Pradesh has also granted similar status to its remote areas in Lahul, Sipiti and Pangi. Interestingly, various political parties have made a commitment in their election manifestos to grant hill development council status to Chenab region but have forgotten the same befooling the poor masses. Action committee has once again requested the coalition government to bring a resolution in the state assembly during monsoon session to the grant of council status to Chenab valley region. Those who attended the meeting included Chief Patron Sheikh Abdul Rehman, Ex-M.P Ram Singh Chauhan, Sheikh Mohammed Shafi, Amrit Varsha, Abdul Rehman Wani, Hans Raj Kotwal, Shabir Ahmed, Riyaz Ahmed, Zargal, Abdul Majid Bichoo, Noor Hussain Malik and Arshad Malik.
