SRINAGAR, Jul 26: Asserting that mother tongue is identity of a living nation, Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather urged for promotion of Kashmiri language, which, he said was imperative for conservation of art, culture and civilization.
Speaking at a Book release function organized by a newly formed cultural organization, Rather said “we are not averse to learning other languages but mother tongue should not be altered on this account”.
The function was attended by a galaxy of poets, writers, intellectual and prominent citizens including Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, Mohammad Rafi, noted novelist Ghulam Nabi Gowhar, President Central Kashmir Federation of Cultural organization Srinagar, Abdul Rashid Hanjura.
Rather said that the voice of literary figures is most powerful as the time has proved that poets and writers have brought biggest socio-political revolution in the world. “Writings of literacy personalities like poets have a great impact on the people and this power should be used in curbing the social evils and for socio-economic transformation of the society”, Rather added. He said poets and writers have a pivotal role in fostering bonds of amity, brotherhood and national spirit.
Quoting a couplet of famous revolutionary poet Abdul Ahad Azad, “Qudratas Yus Ashan Byun Byun Thawein Milat Te Qom Prath Akis Byun Byun Zamina Asmana Asihay”, Minister said that poets remove bitterness from the relations through their sweet ideas.
