| Holding pre-budget meeting by FM continues | | |

Emphasizing on resource mobilization for improving financial health in the state, Minister for Finance, Law and Planning. Mr. Tariq Hamid Karra has said that government is focusing on rationalizing tax structure and widening its base. For the purpose, he stressed for imparting awareness among traders as well as the consumers about VAT.
Mr. Karra was speaking in a pre-budget meeting held here today under his chairmanship with representative of various, Industrial, Trade, Hotel and Transport companies.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of State Finance Mr. Prem Sagar Aziz, Commissioner Secretary Finance Mr. B.B.Vyas, Commissioner Excise Mr. Abdul Hamid, Commissioner Sales Tax Kh. Bashir Ahmad and Special Secretary Finance Mr. Yadullah.
The Minister said that efforts would be made to prove next year’s budget as pro poor and entrepreneur friendly so that in industrial activities in the state receive a big boost. Extension and promotion of industries, he said is vital both for increasing Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and creating employment opportunities for skilled as well as labour classes.
Mobilization of resources and effective tax collection mechanism would be set in place to achieve the long term goal of making the state self- reliant, Karra said adding vibrant economy not only helps in boosting infrastructure but also proves instrumental in containing unemployment and backwardness.
Regarding the demands put forth by the participant representatives the Minister assured sympathetic consideration. He also appreciated their valuable suggestion regarding making the budget more pragmatic. . |
