Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 26: A general meeting of residents of Bhabbeer-Brahamana, Chumbiyan was held under the chairmanship of Madan Lal in presence of sarpanch Bodh Raj.
In the meeting, the residents demanded the compensation from the government for the land which was washed away in the year 1992 by flood in river Chenab. MP Lal Singh and chief engineer Irrigation and Flood Control and other senior officers visited the areas and said that they will soon help the villagers. But till date no help has been given to the said villages. The land was washed away from Baba Kayi devta Bhabber-Brahamana to Chumbiyan.
People also demanded that water should be supplied to villages by lift system from River Chenab (Gijiya area). A hand water pump should be given to the Bhabber area- one near Atta Chakki and another near Jamia Masjid Bhabber.
People demanded that necessary steps should be taken to avoid washing of lands due to flood in the river Chenab.
