CS reviews infrastructural projects in Jammu city

JAMMU, JULY 26- In order to have an overview of the infrastructural projects under JNNURM, being executed by NBCC and ERA, a high level meeting was convened here at Civil Secretariat today.
Chief Secretary, Mr. Madhav Lal presided.
Among others, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Mr. Sanjeev Verma, SSP Jammu Mr. Anand Jain, Special Secretary to Chief Secretary Mr. R. K. Verma, Engineers of R&B, PHE, PDD, ERA, Commissioner JMC, Mr. Sawhney, Special Secretary, Mr. Sougat Biswas, Joint Director Information, Jammu, Mr. Soujanya Sharma and other officers from concerned departments attended the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Madhav Lal appreciated the progress of works being executed by both the agencies viz. NBCC/ ERA and exhorted upon the officers to further expedite the pace of works so that the works can be completed within stipulated time frame. He also asked all the concerned departments like PHE, R&B, PDD and Municipal Corporation to work in close coordination in shifting their respective utilities so that the vital services to the city dwellers may not suffer.
The Chief Secretary directed the executing agencies for preparing the proposed plan of the works to be done in the near future and share their plans with each other so that the connected works of shifting utilities and restorations of roads and lanes/ bi-lanes can be done properly.
The Chief Secretary also directed for concentrating on simultaneous conduct of laying of sewers along the laterals and the house holds so as to avoid inconveniences to the people.
The Chief Secretary while reviewing the NBCC works under JnNURM expressed concern over the slow pace of urban sector reforms which is holding the flow of funds for the entire state thereby affecting the implementation projects on ground causing avoidable inconvenience to the public.
During the inspection the Chief Secretary appreciated the initiatives of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu for coordinating the working of various agencies and timely sorting out issues impeding the works.
Senior General Manager, NBCC while giving power point presentation urged the government for release of work done liability of Rs.20 crore.
Divisional Commissioner gave a brief issue of all the works being carried out by both the agencies ERA/NBCC and said that periodical inspections are being conducted on the ground.
Later, the Chief Secretary inspected Panjtirthi, Ambhpalla Chowk, Mian Deedo Chowk, Jewal Chowk, Bikram Chowk, Bhagwati Nagar, Lakar Mandi, Maheshpur Chowk and directed the concerned departments to restore the vital resources within minimum time. He also inspected works on the sewerage treatment plant at Bhagwati Nagar.
