| PDP reschedules Panchayat Conf to July 30 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar July 26 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party has rescheduled its proposed Panchayat conference in view of the ‘attempts by government to sabotage it on one pretext or the other.’
A spokesperson of PDP said the conference that was slated for July 28 will now be held on July 30 at the TRC ground Srinagar from 10:00 AM.
“The government inspite of the suggestion made yesterday by senior party leader Muzaffar Hussain Beig that mutual conveniences could be accommodated did not change the plans to administer oath to the newly elected Panches and Sarpanches. The oath taking was according to a notification of the government to end on 26th July but for unexplained reasons was fixed for July 28 through informal directions to the officers,” he said.
The spokesperson said in view of these factors and to allow the Panchayat members to complete their oath taking formalities the PDP decided to change the date to July 30 ‘even as this involved considerable logistical problems.’
