Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jul 26: Government is resorting to large scale manipulation of records and other administrative rules while recruiting freshers in the University of Jammu (JU).
This was stated by National Secular Forum (NSF) president Vikas Sharma here today. In a press conference, Sharma while showing evidences leveled allegations that illegal contractual appointments have become order of the day.
He said, "University higher ups are busy in bending University norms to benefit their kith and kin." he said while adding that on June 15, JU invited applications for appointment of lecturers on temporary basis. Minimum qualification was 55 percent marks in Masters preferably with NET/SET or PhD, as per UGC norms, added Vikas.
In the second week of July, the interviews commenced and were to be concluded on July 28. "But, today a corrigendum to the advertisement was issued in which it was said that NET/SET or PhD can be exempted in case where there are shortages of suitable candidates and they would be appointed as Teaching Assistant rather than Lecturers.
However, in Management discipline candidates with 60 percent marks will be taken as Lecturer. Now, the ongoing interviews have been postponed and further applications have been invited. Sharma alleged that Corrigendum has been issued to adjust a blue eyed candidate in Management discipline by bending the rules in own manner as if there is nobody to watch but, NSF won't allow such things to happen in the campus.
There are plenty of candidates in all the discipline with NET/SET and PhD hence no question of issuing the corrigendum, added Vikas. He added that when they ask the Vice Chancellor or higher ups about the misadventures they put the blame on Governor Office and often says that Raj Bhawan put pressure on them to change the University norms. Sharma demanded from governor’s office to clarify allegations of JU higher ups regarding their interference in University affairs.
