BJP for probe into journalists, Fai links, unearths 33 scams in J&K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 26: Launching its campaign against corruption from Jammu region of the state, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today demanded an impartial probe into the Fai links with Indian activists journalists and intellectuals as well as unauthorized encroachment of land around Srinagar airport as both issues are concerning the nation’s security.
Raising a question mark on the credibility of Kashmir interlocutor Dilip Padgaonkar, the BJP national secretary and former MP, Dr Kirit Somaiya at a press conference here today expressed apprehension that the money from Pakistan ISI might have been diverted to promote militancy in this border state and other parts of the country.
Dr Somaiya who was on one day visit to Jammu to launch its campaign against the corruption and scams that have gripped the country said that it is strange while FBI of America has come out with disclosures about the separatist leader Ghulam Nabi Fait and his associates in India, the UPA Government has chosen to maintain silence on the issue.
Dr Somaiya who was flanked by BJP state president Shamsehr Sing Manhas and Party chief spokesperson J&K and National Executive Member, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the Government should place all the facts before the opposition and the public without sparing any body whether he is politician or intellectual or journalist.
On encroachment of land around Srinagar Airport he said it being most sensitive airport of the country from the security point of view , can’t afford such laxity and the party has taken a serious note of it.
He informed that to study and investigate the major scams in the state, the BJP has constituted a special Committee with Dr Jitendra Singh as its state coordinator and Chander Parkash Ganga, party vice president, Sat Sharma (CA) and Satish Sharma party general secretaries, Jugal kishore Sharma, MLA, Sunil Sharma, Balbir Ram, Bansi Lal Bharti and Rajinder Sharma as its members.
When asked about Raja’s allegation that union Home Minister , P Chidambaram was also involved in 2 G Scam, Dr Somaiya said the BJP has demanded his resignation and if he refuses to resign the Party will urge upon the President of India to dismiss him from the union Council of Ministers.
In response to other question that Union HRD Minister, Kapil Sibal and P C Chidambaram have given a clean chit to Padgoankar he said that they had given clean chit to Raja also.
He referred to Jammu and Kashmir as being the second most corrupt state of the country under the NC Congress coalition Government and also asked for probe to account for the crores of rupees of central grant that the state is receiving on the pretext of militancy. This money we apprehend is also going into wrong hands, he added.
He said J&K and North East is receiving huge Central assistance for containing militancy and the same be probed where this amount goes.
The Party has identified 33 major scams in the state so far, said Dr Jitendra Singh. He said out of them 11 are being taken up for immediate follow up. These include Air Port Scam, land scam, Tawi scam, IWDP scam, Education Department scam, MNREGA scam, ETT scam, IAY scam, NPCC scam, forest scam and recruitment scam.
Dr Jitendra Singh informed that the team led by Dr Somaiya will undertake spot visits to different districts and the first such visit is scheduled to district Jammu, Kathua and Samba on August 10 and 11.
