| National, international fairs to showcase handicrafts products | | | Jammu, Nov 29 In order to explore marketing avenues for attractive costs of handicraft products of the state both in India and abroad, J&K Handicrafts Development Corporation is organizing a series of Textile-cum-Cultural shows in metropolitan cities of Mumbai, Bangalore, Calcutta and Hyderabad in ensuing months for which Government has already allotted Rs. 50 lakh to the corporation. This was stated at 35th Annual General Meeting of the Corporation held here at Jammu under the chairmanship of Haji Abdul Rashid Dar. It was informed in the meeting that international trade fares would also be conducted at Dubai, New-York, Brimgham, U.K and Domtex Germany for showcasing the world famous unique handicraft products of state in collaboration with union Ministry of Textiles. After holding threadbare discussions on various issues, the meeting adopted Accounts of 1996-97 financial year and Accounts pertaining to 2005-06 fiscal year were also presented in the meeting. The meeting was told that the renovation of twin prime showrooms of the corporation at Delhi and Calcutta shall be taken up at a cost of Rs. 2.30 crore in next financial year while modernization work on showrooms of the corporation at Srinagar and Jammu is in full swing. Addressing the meeting Chairman of the Corporation Haji Abdul Rashid appreciated Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for giving fillip to industrial activities especially in handicrafts sector. He said keen interest of Mr. Azad in promoting handicrafts sector has boosted the morale of corporation resulting in significant sale of products over the years. Among others Principal Secretary Industries Mr. Lokesh Jha and Managing Director Mr. G.N Naikoo attended the meeting. |
