Bhim seeks support of country for J&K's reorganization | Alternative to Congress, BJP | | Neha EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 26: Chairman of Panthers Party (PP) Bhim Singh has taken yet another step calculated to mobilise the Indian opinion in favour of his demand that seeks "reorganisation of Jammu and Kashmir" and "separate chief minister and separate assembly" for what he rightly calls "Duggar Pradesh." In fact, he has appealed to those regional organisations which have been seeking empowerment of the neglected and ignored regions through the institution of state to come forward and support the PP. He himself is a known supporter of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), which has been spearheading movement for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and creation of Telangana state. In fact, only a couple of weeks ago he, and his supporters and followers, plus some very senior leaders from the Telangana region, had sat on dharna for a day at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, to express their solidarity with the votaries of Telangana state. Bhim Singh is energetic and a good organizer, notwithstanding the fact that he has umpteen times acted unwisely for reasons best known to him. He has the ability and capacity to mobilise public opinion outside the state. And, there should be no doubt about it. He is also committed to the cause of the Duggar Pradesh. There should also be no doubt about it. One can say that his latest move is well-conceived and if he works in this direction for sometime, his efforts would surely strengthen the pro-reorganisation forces in Duggar Pradesh, which is the need of the hour considering the miserable plight of the otherwise chivalrous and committed Dogras - committed to the nation. The PP chairman has not only solicited the outside support for the cause of the Dogras, but he has also urged all the regional outfits in the country to form a front so that they could provide an alternative to the BJP and the Congress, which have only converted politics into a most lucrative business, thus geopardising the country's paramount interests and leaving the people of the country in a lurch. His suggestion in favour of a credible alternative at the national level is very timely as the country needed a credible alternative that is honest, liberal-minded, people-centric, transparent, accountable and responsive long ago. As a matter of fact, a credible alternative to the Congress and the BJP has become a historical necessity. New leadership is the need of the time. Besides, Bhim Singh has appealed to all the units of National Panthers Students Union (NPSU) all over the state and in the rest of the country to support the ongoing students' movement in Duggar Pradesh for the establishment of Central University in Jammu and appointment of Vice Chancellor so that the same becomes functional soon. Not only this, the Panthers' Chief has also declared in unequivocal terms that the "PP activists shall launch a nation-wide movement in support of the Jammu Central University to express solidarity with the students of Jammu agitating on the roads for 23 days facing lathies and bullets of authoritarian anti-people Government in Jammu and Kashmir." This means Bhim Singh is discharging three duties simultaneously: mobilisation of public opinion outside the state for the state's reorganisation, mobilisation for a credible alternative to the so-called national parties and mobilisation of public opinion in favour of the students' demand seeking establishment of Central University of Jammu. However, the opinion in Jammu is that Bhim Singh is somewhat "inconsistent" and that "sometimes he does things which negate his own efforts." One cannot but disagree. Still, however, it can be said that he has been discharging his obligations to the Dogras and the Duggar Pradesh very nicely and consistently. Bhim Singh would do well to remove the impression in Jammu that he is "inconsistent." Such an exercise on his part has become imperative. |
