Poonch resident wanted in Mumbai serial blasts | Mumbai Police send communique to J&K Police | | Amit Sharma EARLY TIMERS REPORT POONCH, July 26: The perpetrators of serial blasts in economic capital of the country on July 13 could have a link with the border district of Poonch as the Mumbai police have sought information of a Mendhar resident. The suspect reportedly played a role in carrying out Mumbai serial blasts following which the Mumbai police send a communiqué in this regard to Jammu & Kashmir Police to get the credentials of the person confirmed. Earlier, a person from this area was also involved in the Akshardham temple attack. Sources said that a resident of Mendhar area of district Poonch is wanted for recent Mumbai blasts and in this regard Mumbai Police has arrested a person of Mendhar from Mumbai. Sources added that another person of Mumbai in the business capital is also being quizzed regarding the blast. As per intelligence sources, a resident of a village under the jurisdiction of Gursai Police Station of Mendhar is being quizzed for Mumbai blasts and Mumbai Police has written to Jammu & Kashmir to get the credentials of the person confirmed from the area. The communication received by Jammu & Kashmir Police has bee sent to Senior Superintendent of Police Poonch Ashkoor Wani who forwarded the same to Gursai Police Station for getting it confirmed. An investigation has also been started about the same, sources said adding that Mumbai Police has send a photograph and some certificate to the Poonch Police. Although it is yet to confirmed weather the person is involved or not however police is quizzing various people on his inputs. It is pertinent to mention here that a person from Poonch district was also arrested in 2002 after September 24, 2002 Akshardham Temple attack in Gujrat. When contacted, a senior police officer of Poonch confirmed that they have received a communication from Mumbai Police regarding involvement of a Mendhar resident in Mumbai blasts. They said that they are getting it confirmed from Gursai area and it will take some more time to cross check the certificates. However police sources said that the person in photograph is not belonging to Mendhar area and he may be working on fake name and certificate. |
