EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, July 26: Sangam Theatre Group (Regd.) Reasi staged Hindi play Hamari Beti Riya at N.H.P.C. Auditorium (Community Hall) Jyotipuram.

The play was written by Rajneesh Gupta and Directed by M. Akram Khan and sponsored by Ministry of Culture (GOI).

Pandurang K. Pole (IAS) District Development Commissioner Reasi was the Chief Guest and C.B. Singh G.M. Salal Presided over the function.

This play was presented by Sangam Theatre actors Pankaj Anand as Anurag, Madhu Surya as Kamini, Rekha Rajput as Riya, Manoj Bhat as Taneja, Aamir Khan as Inspector, Narinder Singh as Seepahi.

"Hamari Beti Riya" is the story of a talented and bright young girl who is born out of an illicit relationship between her mother and a person with whom she fell into love in order to avoid the monotony of being married to a physically challenged person.

The mother has died and the father has learnt from her diary that he is not the actual father of the girl whom he considers his daughter.

So he hates the girl to the extent that he tortures her and plots to get her killed.

No one knows as to why he has waited for the girl to grow up to the age of a young woman for taking this ultimate step when he could have easily got her eliminated when she was young.

In a dramatic turn of events, the assassin that he chooses to kill his daughter turns out to be the actual father of the girl.

The assassin comes to kill the girl, learns the reality, changes tracks and prepares himself to kill the father with the help of the daughter and take over the property.

The girl oscillates between two extremes and finally decides to disown both her biological father and the person who has brought her up. Now she wants to have her own identity.

The chief guest while speaking on the occasion appreciated the programme and efforts made by Sangam Theatre Reasi for promoting cultural activity in this remote district and express his gratitude to the Ministry of Culture (GOI) for sponsoring such type of programme in this district. While presiding on the programme G.M. Salal Singh (NHPC) assured his full co-operation to Sangam Theatre Group Reasi for organizing such cultural activities for the welfare of society.

On the occasion President Sangam Theatre Group informed that it is going to organize a mega event title Tagore Utsav-2011 and a Dogri play Shah Shahni in the month of Aug./Sept 11 at Reasi with the active co-operation by District administration.
