Widespread resentment brews among student organization for CU establishment | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu/Udhampur July 26: National Secular Forum agitation for the demand of local Vice-Chancellor entered 29th consecutive day. Activists of National Secular Forum University Unit today held strong protest demonstration in the University Campus under the leadership of Ravi Choudhary chairman University unit.
Addressing the gathering Choudhary said,” We do not understand the reasons behind undue delay and keep in abeyance the appointment of Vice-Chancellor when all other 15 universities established with same legislation have started functioning and have completed one session. If the HRD minister fails in appointing local VC to the Central University of Jammu then NSF will continue protest against UPA-Govt.
Meanwhile activists of National Secular Forum today held protest demonstration in the Jourian (Mandi) and also burnt the effigy HRD-Minister and also to show there resentment against delay in coming up academic session in Central University
The NSF activists led by Sunil Sharma, NSF Akhnoor Tehsil president assembled at the Mandi and raised slogans against state and central government for playing with career of students.
The NSF tehsil President Sunil Sharma said that the session of Jammu Central University has already gone late by two year while the other central universities which were announced in the month of Feb. 2009 have completed their one session
He said that conflicting signals were emanating from different quarters regarding the appointment of Vice-Chancellor of the said Jammu Central University giving rise to further uncertainties and misgivings among the people of Jammu.
He further stressed that the local aspirations of the public for appointment of local Vice-Chancellor needed to be honored as Jammu had several eminent scholars and educationists of repute, who had established their credentials at national and even international level.
Among those who were present in the protest included Vinod Sharma, Sunil, Ajay, Amit Sharma, Rohit, Sanjay Thakur, Sanjay Sharma, Parshotam Singh, Manjit Singh and others.
Young Panthers & Panthers Student Union today burned the effigy of state government in support of their demand of selection of Vice – Chancellor of Central University in Jammu. Hundred of activists of young panthers & NPSU today gathered at Slathia Chowk Udhampur in the morning & started slogan against centre Govt. & State Govt. for appointing hr Vice- Chancellor of Central University Jammu which was sanctioned in the year 209 where as CU Kashmir got functional about two year back.
While addressing the gathering the leader of Young panthers & National Panthers Student Union said that there is a strong resentment amongst the people of Jammu region over the polices of their persistent neglect & deprivation at the hands of successive regions in all spheres, the recent example of deprivation is that Govt. of India has sanctioned a Central University for Jammu in 2009 but the Govt. has deliberatively delayed the process of appointing the Vice Chancellor even after passing of the two year of its sanction.
A meeting of members of Jammu Regional Committee of CPI (M) was also held in its office chamber under the chairmanship of comrade Sham Prasad Kesar, regional secretary.
Regional Committee threadbare discussed the issue of Jammu Central University.
Kesar demanded that the government of India should resolve the issue of Jammu central university by immediately appointing a chancellor of the said university.
He must be competent, intelligent, experienced, a very good academician and a man of integrity from any part of India.
Regional committee also expressed grave concern over the proposed Increase in the electricity tariff in the state.
Government should take strict measures to check the theft of electricity instead of hike in the charges.
JJSF under the leadership of its JU president Jatinder Singh along with students of law Department and various others boycott their classes against the delay in Jammu Central University.
Students especially from the Law dept. started to boycott their classes early morning and then all other departments like Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Geology, and others also boycotted.
Students raised their voice against the petty politics of Kashmir Centric policies along with the centre govt.
Students raised their voice against the blatant discrimination saying JCU was named on27th Sep 2009 but the session didn’t start so far while on the other hand Kashmir C.U is working smoothly against all odds. KAS preliminary can be held in Jammu, KAS mains can be held in Jammu, but why KAS interview cannot be held in Jammu was the point raised in the demonstration.
Others who were present Akhlieswar Jamwal (V.P) Vijay, Ish, Sanjeev, Ravi, Tara, Dutta, Neeraj, Pardeep, Pankaj, Mammood, Abhishek, Narinder, Raman, Abhanimanu, Jonny and Thakur.
Meanwhile in a press conference addressed by Raghav Sharma, state executive member, Arun Dev Singh, state executive member, Aman Bali, leader, JU, Manik Wazir, City jt. Secy., ABVP stated that since it has played a vital role in allotment of Jammu Central University in 2009 and again in 2011, ABVP is on roads for establishment and conformation of Central University for last one month. It made it clear that classes in CU Jammu must start immediately. ABVP resented strongly against the negligence of the state as well as central Govt. to show interest to make the Central University functional in Jammu.
Meanwhile, yesterday while ABVP activists were holding protest demonstration in M.A.M. College for CU Jammu, some govt. agents attacked the ABVP leaders who were addressing a large number of students gathering and tried to sabotage the ongoing peaceful movement of ABVP for the cause of Jammu people. ABVP leaders demanded inquiry of this incident and the role of MAM College administration.
ABVP also questioned the biased attitude of J&K police, which instead of arresting the miscreants, arrested the ABVP leaders.
ABVP said that the agitation will go on and they were not afraid of any such elements who are trying to sabotage CU agitation.
ABVP informed that from tomorrow it is going to organize rallies at every district headquarter i.e. Samba, Reasi, Kathua, Udhampur , Kishtwar, Ramban and Rajouri for CU Jammu.
ABVP is fighting for the cause of CU Jammu for last one month and will continue until the issue is resolved completely.
ABVP also seeks support from civil society and ask them to come forward and help the student community who were continuously fighting for the cause of Jammu.
A press conference was addressed by Sanjeev Manmotra, working President, LJSP , J&K State unit along with Anil Kumar Bhagat, National General Secretary, Dalit Sena and M.R.Puri, National Secretary, WP In which they expressed its serious concern over the statements of Chief Minister & his team of Ministers regarding "equitable development of all the regions".
The LJSP, leaders asked the Chief Minister that why the Central University has not yet been opened here in Jammu, which was sanctioned by HRD Ministry of India after the approval of the Parliament of India, after a massive struggle by the people of Jammu region in general and the student community.
They said that Vice Chancellor who had been appointed for the Central University Jammu has not been able to join for whatsoever reason, but this doesn't mean that there is no other academician eligible for this post.
Some anti-Jammu elements of Kashmir Centric Government of J&K spoke from different fronts regarding the issue just to linger it and the people of Jammu Province are facing discrimination from the' State and central governments from the last 64 years.
