Bhalla stresses planned use of evacuee assets | EP deptt earns Rs 13.40 cr revenue | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR July 26- The department of Evacuee Property has earned revenue worth Rs. 13.40 crore during last fiscal by systematic commercialization of evacuee assets. This was given out at a review meeting held here today with Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla in chair. The meeting reviewed the status of various proposed projects including office/commercial complex, residential flats and marriage halls to be set up at Hyderpora and Rawalpora in Srinagar and at Udhaywala, Meen Sarkar, Wazarat Road in Jammu and Bus stand at Rajouri following threadbare discussion over commercialization of Evacuee assets. Addressing the meeting, the Minister impressed upon the concerned functionaries to redouble their efforts and achieve the targets within stipulated time frame. He called for sustained efforts to generate more resourcesby putting the properties to commercial use. Bhalla said the government is keen to safeguard evacuee properties across the State, adding planned use of these assets will serve twin objectives of conservation and revenue generation. The Commissioner/ Secretary Revenue, Kachoo Isphanyar Khan, Custodian General, Latief-u- Zaman Deva, Custodian, Evacuee Properties Jammu, Abdul Majid Wani, Custodian, Evacuee Properties, Kashmir, Mohammad Akbar Bhat and Custodian Central/ Executive Engineer EP Department, Bashir Ahmed Mir and other officers participated in the meeting.
