Healthy, educated J&K my endeavour: Omar | ‘Consolidation imperative to ensure benefits of expansion’ | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, July 27:- Underlining consolidation as an essential facet to ensure benefits of expansion of public service infrastructure to the people, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has said that during the first two years of his tenure the attention was paid to provide necessary paraphernalia to the hospitals, schools, colleges and other such institutions established and upgraded in the State. “Unless our hospitals, schools and colleges are manned by qualified faculty, required technicians and ministerial staff the prompt and up to the mark delivery cannot be assured”, he said. “Equal focus is now on both consolidation and expansion”, he said adding that the upgradation of existing infrastructure and creation of new units along with equipping these with men and material are receiving attention simultaneously. Speaking to various delegations at Awami Mulakat here on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that healthy and educated Jammu and Kashmir is his endeavour and a comprehensive policy of consolidation and expansion has been put in place in these sectors to reach out every area and improve quality of education and healthcare facilities. The Chief Minister assured the people that his Government is committed to the equitable and holistic development of all areas in the State. “Government is keen on this front”, he said calling for public involvement in the implementation and monitoring of schemes. The Chief Minister referring to the enactment of Public Services Guarantee Act and issuance of SROs to make it operational said that the Act is of greater significance to empower general public to enforce their right to get public service within the specified time frame on the administration. “During the last financial year I provided matching grants to every legislator who spent the money under Constituency Development Fund on installing new transformers in their constituencies”, he said adding that a huge amount was incurred on this programme. While dealing with various SRO and land compensation cases, the Chief Minister directed the concerned District Development Commissioners and Divisional Commissioners to settle these cases on priority giving justice to the concerned. Deputations from Baramulla, Sopore, Pattan, Kupwara, Lolab, Bandipora, Mirgund, Beerwa, Budgam, Chadoora, Anantnag, Shangus, Handwara, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Qazigund, Srinagar and other areas in their interaction with the Chief Minister brought to his notice the development demands of their areas requiring urgent attention.
