| Govt to study judgement: Deshmukh | | |

Maharashtra government would study the special court judgment acquitting actor Sanjay Dutt of TADA charges in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case before taking any decision to move the Supreme Court against it.
"The legal department will study the judgment of the special court before taking any decision," Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said.
He said the state government is yet to get a copy of the judgement delivered by special TADA judge P D Kode acquitting the actor of the charges of conspiracy in the case.
The court convicted Dutt for a much lesser offence under the Arms Act.
Deshmukh said the legal department would study the judgement once it gets a copy and decide on the future course of action accordingly.
"Moreover, the whole judgement is yet to come," he said referring to the court's decision to pronounce the verdict in a staggerred manner due to the huge number of accused in the case.
After a trial spanning 13 years, the 47-year-old actor was acquitted of the charges of conspiracy in the 1993 serial blasts but was convicted for a much lesser offence under the Arms Act by a TADA court that ruled the Bollywood actor was not a terrorist.
