Chenab Gunners clinch the thriller in APL | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT AKHNOOR, July 27: Chenab Gunners clinched the thriller to sail into the semi-finals of the ongoing Akhnoor Premier League (Twenty20) Cricket Tournament, organised under Operation Sadhvawna by the Indian Army, here today. In today’s eliminating round, Chenab Gunners outplayed Kameshwar Club by one wicket in the second last delivery of the final over. Earlier, Chenab Gunners skipper, Ashutosh Walia won the toss and opted to field. Batting first, Kameshwar Club made a brilliant start with 69 runs coming in first ten overs play for the loss of one wicket. However, skipper, Walia along with Raghvendra led spin attack tamed Kameshwar XI by halting the innings at 120 for eight. Sahil Pawar played skipper’s knock contributing 25 runs. From Chenab Gunners, Ashutosh Walia and Prabhu were most successful bowlers with three wickets each. Later, chasing the target, Gunners were off to a disastrous start when they lost four wickets in first eight overs for just 49 runs on the board. However, in a nail-biting finish, Chenab Gunners clinched the win on the second last delivery of the final over that too on last wicket. Jilani remained top scorer with 35 runs while Mrigank Nanda played match winning innings of 15 runs including consecutive six and four in the last over.
