Doctors boycott OPD, patients term it illegal protest | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, July 27: Following manhandling by some people after Budhal accident on Tuesday, doctors posted in District Hospital Rajouri boycotted Out Door Patients (OPD) and also remained away from wards to stage their protest. As per reports, doctors of District Hospital Rajouri did not attend OPD on Wednesday as a mark of protest against some people who have allegedly mishandled the doctors on Tuesday. Sources said that following accident of Budhal, when the injured were shifted to District Hospital Rajouri, some attendants allegedly mishandled doctors and termed them responsible for two deaths of victims in the Hospital. Some people had even allegedly thrashed the doctors which irked them and they went on one day strike today. Following their strike, patients and their attendants who visited Hospital OPD could not get the treatment since the doctors remaining away from wards and OPD. This attitude of doctors irked patients who hold demonstration in from of the District Hospital on College Road. The attendants and patients alleged that they have come in the DH to get treatment but they were told by them to visit tomorrow. "This is not the duty of doctors and this is not the way doctors should protest", an annoyed patients Rakesh Kumar said adding that doctors have forgotten their role as life savers and people are losing faith on these doctors. The protestors demanded initiating action against the doctors for remaining away from OPD by terming the doctors protest as illegal. On the other hand doctors are also demanding action against those who manhandled them. Meanwhile, when contacted, Superintendent Hospital admitted that doctors were on strike, however, said that after their intervention they resumed the duties. |
