An ailing and illiterate Jammu Kashmir! | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 27: Healthy and educated Jammu Kashmir is Chief Minister's endeavour. Under Omar's leadership, the state has reached its zenith as far as healthcare is concerned. But at the same time the city of Srinagar has got the `distinction' of being the third dirtiest city of the country. The city is ruled by 2 lakh canines that increase their population with every passing day. Thanks to some `self styled' animal rights activists, the dogs have rights in this neglected state even if they cause painful death to the crown of creation. Every day four to five persons with severe dog bites visit Srinagar's SMHS hospital as the state enjoys the status of being the best state in India in terms of healthcare. According to Srinagar Municipality, the historic city needs five thousand dogs for scavenging. The rest, experts believe have to be killed if the dream of healthy Jammu Kashmir has to come true. And as far as education is concerned, the state no doubt has shown improvement during the past few years. However, the degree colleges opened by the government in every nook and corner of the state have put a question mark on the campaign itself. A degree college cannot operate in two rooms and without proper staff. Most of the degree colleges opened for political reasons lack the basic facilities. These so-called colleges shall be producing degree holder illiterates. |
