ARE WE SAFE ?
7/28/2011 12:36:07 AM
No body has forgotten about the agenda of the govt. which it placed in the 14th & 15th LOK Sabha elections in front of the country to counter terrorism in the nation whether it was related to external terrorism activities or internal terrorism activities. Big promises made by them at that time are of no use today when we have ourselves witnessed so many terrorist attacks in the past few years which have not just lamed the intelligence of the nation but has also placed our so called leaders under various questions and they are bound to answer them as we have chosen them to sit there on the top.
The recent Mumbai bomb blasts have left this nation strangely numb. These attacks have proved that still our country lacks in the intelligence structure. Three explosions went off within minutes of each other which left hundreds of people injured and took lives of more than 20 people. We should not forget that Mumbai is the same place which has recently seen a horrible scene of innocent deaths in November 2008 when Pakistani terrorists attacked Mumbai. One of them, the lone surviving gunman in the carnage, Ajmal Kasab has been sentenced to death but till now the date for his death has not been decided as yet. A prime suspect of the Parliament attack, Afzal guru who has been playing with its death sentence for the last ten years has not been hanged as yet. Why these enemies of humanity are being treated as national guests ? For what purpose they have been kept alive ? Crores have been spent on them to fulfil their desires.
We Indians are aware of the fact that Mumbai and Delhi are the most famous metro cities where large amount of business takes place in the country. They are popularly known as the industrial hubs of the country. Moreover, Delhi is also known as the political centre of the country. If these places are not safe, then how could a common man expect other places to be safe in the country? There are so many alike incidents which shows that our intelligence structure is a complete failure. As per the statistics of an official data terror has claimed more than 500 lives in the past 10 years and that too in Mumbai only. We have 28 states and 7 Union Territories, so you can yourself imagine that upto what extent the terror has spread its reigns in our country.
This is the real intelligence deficit that is plaguing India. This is why nothing ever changes, no matter how strong and destructive the storm is that our nation is facing today. Despite of hiring professionals these intelligence departments are still headed by retired bureaucrats or retired politicians. Another fact, i.e understaffing in these departments has also made them weak in work. The core areas of each and every nation on this globe is its economy and its National security and unfortunately we are lacking in both of them today. STRANGE COMMENTS made by our so called leaders at the centre have also placed under a deep distress.
It places us under a situation of disturbance when our Home Minister uses such remarks that such incidents are one of the common incidents and and it also creates a matter of suspicion when a leader of a big stature says that “WE CANNOT STOP EVERY TERRORIST ATTACK”. Is this the reply you expect from a responsible person who is heading our intelligence? Is this the reply you expect from a person who is believed to hold one of the biggest posts in the political structure of this country in the future?
It is unending failure of the intelligence of this country which is responsible for perpetuating many unfilled gaps in National security and the heavy price that the country has paid and is continuing to pay to terror. It is because of this thing only that we may loose many more lives which otherwise could have been saved. This is the reason that these recent blasts in Mumbai have placed everybody in a very great shock.
Keeping in view all the situation which are in front of us today , we have been compelled by ourselves to think Whether in today’s scenario of this country ARE WE SAFE OR NOT ?
