More organizations join the crusade for JCU as momentum gains | Hunger strike enters 3rd Day | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 27: Jammu Province People Forum relay hunger strike entered into 3rd day while sitting at Raja Jambolochan Memorial Park Purani Mandi Jammu. Today the forum members who sat on hunger strike include Dev Raj Baru (Ex. President, Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha), ML Sharma (an eminent environmentalist and social worker), S. Balwinder Singh Bhatia (President Rashtrawadi Morcha), Prof. Virender Gupta (President, JSM) and Raj Kumar (a social activist of JSM). Other organizations and sabhas, which participated in moral support by sitting along with fasting leaders included besides Paviter Singh (Chairman JPPF), Inderjeet Khajuria (President All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association), Th. Narayan Singh (President, Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha), Prof. Devinder Sharma (Ex. President All Indian Brahman Federation), Rajiv Mahajan (President Shri Ram Sena), Mohan S. Salathia (President, Navi Dogri Sanstha), RP Sharma (Dogra Liberation Front), Anan Sharma (President, Tanker Owner’s Association), Pritam Sharma (President, Kranti Dal), RP Shastri (President, Dogra Jyotishi Pujari Shastri Sangh), Prof. BL Bhardwaj, S. Gajan Singh (President, Janta Ki Awaz), Kamal Singh Jamwal (President Purani Mandi Welfare Association), Dr. Agnishekhar (Panun Kashmir), Rajesh Chandan, Rajesh Kesari, Uday Chand (President, Duggar Pradesh Party). Hundreds of people participated apart from the above Sabhas and organizations and raised slogans demanding local Vice Chancellor for Jammu Central University and demanded it’s functioning immediately without further loss of time to make the admissions so that no further semester of the agitation youth is lost and they have vowed to achieve the just cause of Jammuites and make the Central University functional at any cost. Various other organizations also supported the hunger strike of Jammu Province people fourm, Jammu & Kashmir people front (JKPF) and unemployment engineering association also came openly in the support of National Panther Students Union (NPSU) who is fighting for the opening of CUJ from last 28 days. Satish Poonchi (chief pattern JKPF), Ajay Kumar Mehra (Chairman Unemployment Engineering Association), Rajeev Sharma (President Unemployment Engineering Association) and Vriender Dutta replaced the four fasting activists of YP & NPSU early in the morning in the presence of Prof. Bhim Singh (Chairman JKNPP & chief Pattern NPSU). The Members of the Working Committee and the Secretariat of JKNPP today staged a massive fast in front of Raj Bhawan, Jammu expressing total solidarity with the National Panthers Students Union (NPSU) which has launched a movement in Jammu province for the urgent appointment of a Dogra Vice Chancellor in the Central University Jammu. Besides, the fast was to emphasize on the 2011 Agenda of the Panthers for Reorganization of J&K to end 60 years old colonial rule of the Abdullahs and implement Reorganization plan proposed by the Panthers Party to grant separate Assemblies, separate Chief Ministers with separate Civil Secretariats, separate Public Service Commission, separate Budgets, separate Recruitments etc. so that regional tension and conflict shall die forever. National Secular Forum also continued their agitation for the demand of Local Vice-Chancellor on 30thconsecutive day. Amid anti-government slogans, angry students alleged that 15 Central University were sanctioned by the Central Government across the country, included one each for Jammu and Kashmir, but no Vice-Chancellor has been appointed so far for Jammu Central University as other universities have almost completed their one session. The NSF activists led by Vikas Sharma, NSF President assembled on the Jammu University Campus and raised slogans against UPA- government for playing with career of students. Brutal use of force and unnecessary harassment of student community agitating for their fundamental rights in a democratic manner is highly condemnable and administration should be ashamed of this confrontational attitude against the future builders of tomorrow, said Inderjeet Khajuria of All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association. Pavitar Singh, the Chairman JPPF, while addressing the gathering in the hunger strike premises made a fervent appeal to the media to highlight the sufferings of people and student community who are being denied the functioning of sanctioned Central University by deliberate delay tactics adopted by HRD ministry of India in connivance with the Kashmir centric state government. The Chairman further asserted that so called statement of the state Chief Minister appearing in the press on July 23, regarding his meeting with the HRD minister, Kapil Sibal, for early commissioning of Central University at Jammu are mere assurances and can in no way bring back the already lost two semesters of students for no fault of theirs. The Chairman further announced that JPPF which is already engaged in the student and parent cause of Jammuites regarding Central University for the last about 2 years shall leave no stone unturned to achieve the immediate functioning of Central University. He also appealed to the political parties to unite cutting across party affiliations and shoulder their responsibilities to foster the cause of Jammuites.
