Overloading puts life of passengers at peril | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, July 27: The operators of various public transport modes including auto rickshaws, mini buses as well as buses in Kathua and its adjoining areas are violating the laws with impunity as they are resorted to breach of traffic rules including overloading and rash driving there by putting the lives of passengers at great risk. Jarai Morh, Hatli Morh, Hatli village, Logate, Barwal, Nagri, and Lakhanpur are some of the area where the public transport of different modes could be seen packed with passengers. It is usually observed on Kathua roads that the school going students and old aged passengers are hanging out side of the autos and matadors mainly due to overloading as the sitting capacity of auto is not more than 5 and the capacity of matador is not more than 25. This open violation of traffic rules is going on under the very nose of traffic police department who failed to keep a check on the erring drivers. “The traffic cops are keeping a blind eye to the violations and doing nothing…. They just watch the menace of overloading as mute spectator due to which the chances of an incident are imminent…. Instead booking the offenders the traffic police let them go scot free,” a daily passenger from Logate to Kathua said.
