New districts to get focused attention: Bhalla | Ramban gets Rs. 64. 60 crore annual plan | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 27: Minister for Revenue and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has said that the government was keen to make available all basic amenities to the people in each district of the state with focused attention on the newly created districts. The Minister was speaking at the Ramban District Development Board meeting which met here today under his chairmanship to approve this year’s annual plan for the District.The Board approved an annual plan of Rs. 64.60 crore for the district which include Rs 20.17 crore as Revenue component and Rs. 44.42- crore as capital component . Bhalla asked the officers to put in their sincere efforts to implement the DDB decisions in letter and spirit to meet the aspirations of the people. He said Government was keen to extend every basic facility to the people of each district and bring these at par with twin cities. Rs. 28.75 lakh were sought for the augmentation of power infrastructure in the district, while Rs. 6.67 crore were projected for upgradation and construction of new sub-centers, PHCs, CHC and sub-hospitals in the district. Under Education Sector, the target to provide free text books to 53, 432 students and Mid-day Meal up to middle class , besides construction of 6 buildings, 310 kitchen sheds and scholarship to 6500 G&B students of the district have been fixed, with the proposed allocation of an amount of Rs. 38.71 lakh. It was also informed that under Sarva Shikhsha Abhiyan (SSA), a target of upgrading 27 Primary School and 20 Middle School, besides construction of 75 new school buildings have been fixed for the current year. As many as Rs. 42.94 lakh were proposed for agriculture , while Rs. 42.83 lakh were sought under Self- employment sector. The meeting was informed that 90 percent of work on the Degree Collgee complex Ramban has been completed with an expenditure of Rs. 8.86 crore against the project cost Rs. 9.84 c rore. The meeting was also informed that a provision of Rs. 64. 75 crore has been kept for the district under MNREGA to take up 2128 works. It was further informed that about 419 works like water conservation, draught proofing, minor irrigation, irrigation facility to SC/ST, renovation of traditional bodies, land development, flood control and protection, rural connectivity and Rajeev Gandhi Seva Kendra works were taken up last year. He said under the scheme, 31846 families have been provided 100 day employment. Vice Chairman DDB Ramban Manohar Lal Sharma, Minister for State for Haj and Auqaf Ajaz Ahmed Khan, Vice Chairman State Advisory Board for Kissans, Rashpal Singh, District Development Commissioner, Shabir Ahmad Bhat, besides HoDs of various departments were present in the meeting.
