EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, July 28: All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC) has reiterated its long pending demand of reopening of Shaardha Mata temple in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir in the backdrop of successful Indo-Pak Foreign Minister level talks where the joint statement has favoured facilitating religious pilgrimages among the two sides of Kashmir.
In a statement issued here the APMCC Chairman Vinod Pandit stressed upon the two countries particularly the newly appointed Foreign Minister of Pakistan Hina Rabbani Khar to reopen Shaardha Mata Temple, the holiest temple of Kashmiri Pandits in Pakistani part of Kashmir and facilitate the travel of Kashmiri Pandits through LOC to pay obeisance at the temple.
Vinod Pandit said that his organization which has been demanding reopening of Shaardha Temple for a long time feels encouraged by the joint statement on the religious pilgrimage and hopes that this facility would be extended to the Kashmiri Pandits who are aborigines of Kashmir.
He said this would prove one of the greatest CMBs between the two countries and help in bringing the people of two countries together besides bridging the gap between the two religious communities of the sub continent.
He said that on Indian part the establishment of Shaardha Peeth University would be a boon for the confidence building among Kashmiri Pandits for their final return to Kashmir while Pakistan can show magnanimity by extending religious facilities to Kashmir Pandits who till now have never figured in their scheme of things.
Vinod said that his organization would continue to seek reopening of Shaardha temple in Pakistani part of Kashmir and hoped that his demand would get support from all corners because it is above politics and is purely religious in nature.
He hoped that the new thaw between the two countries would see the dream of Kashmiri Pandits realized to visit their holiest temple of Mata Shaardha which is the presiding deity of all Kashmiri Pandits.
