| HC ordered Status-Quo | | Municipal areas? | | Jammu, July-28 (JNF):- In the petition filed by newly elected
Sarpanchs and Panchs of the area of Tehsil Akhnoor challenging the notification issued on June 14, 2010 have proposed to declare various areas of Tehsil Akhnoor as Municipal Area. In the
petition, the petitioners claimed that they declared as elected Sarpanchs and Panchs and the process of such election has been concluded in the said areas in the month of May, 2011.

Jammu Wing after hearing Sr. Adv KS Johal assisted by Adv Monika Kohli
appearing for the petitioner, has ordered that Status-Quo vis-à-vis
the local areas of villages Pallanwala & Gigrial of Tehsil Akhnoor
shall be maintained. However, it shall be opened for the respondents
to hear the petitioners in connection with the connection of declaring
the said villages as Municipal Committees but the decision shall abide
by the further orders from the Court. JNF
