SRINAGAR, July 28: Kishan Chand Cricket Club (KCCC) of Jammu proved that they are the best side in state, especially in the shorter version of the game, when they outplayed Kashmir Gymkhana Club by a wafer thin margin of one run in the final to lift the maiden Jammu and Kashmir Premier League (JKPL) Trophy at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, here today. In the valedictory function of this much delayed final, Governor, NN Vohra was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophy as also other individual prizes to the outstanding performers in the competition. In the morning, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, who was accompanied by JKCA president and Union Minister, Farooq Abdullah, interacted with the finalist teams. Earlier, after winning the toss and elected to bat first, KCCC, led by Dhruv Mahajan, set a target of 139 runs for the loss of seven wickets, which, in reply, Kashmir Gymkhana could not chase and lost the title clash by one run. Shashi Kumar with 44 runs was the main contributor to the KCCC total. From Kashmir Gymkahana, Aslam claimed two wickets. Later, Kashmir Gymkhana could make just 140 runs. Mohsin Mushtaq remained top scorer with 60 runs while Sahil and Ashwani shared two wickets each from KCCC. In all, 64 teams from both Jammu and Kashmir regions took part in this tournament held last year in June. Prominent among others present were Minister for School Education, Peerzada Mohd Sayed, Minister for Rural Development, Ali Mohammed Sagar, Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik, Minister of State for Home and Tourism, Nasir Aslam Wani, ADGP, K Rajindra, IGPs SM Sahai and HK Lohia as also Mohd Aslam Goni, Ahsan Mirza and Manzoor Wazir, Abdul Rouf, Javed Ahmed Kitab, Ranjit Kalra, Shiban Lal Trakroo, Shamboo Nath Sharma, Ghulam Mohd. Bhat and Hardev Singh Jamwal.
