Shopkeeper held for selling PDS ration in black | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 28: Nowabad police have arrested a shopkeeper in connection with the alleged sale of public distribution system (PDS) ration in the black market here today. The incident had come to light when on a complaint of a few local residents, the police raided a grocery shop at Canal Road and seized 50 rice bags of Public Distribution System (PDS) ration and a flour bag of10 kg, bearing stamps of the state government (subsidized ration meant for PDS), from the godown of shop. The shopkeeper identified as Vijay Kumar Gupta son of Om Parkash Gupta resident of H No. 142, Lajpat Nagar, Jammu was also arrested by police on spot. A case against him has also been lodged against him in this connection. During questioning he told police that he bought the ration from Uttam Raj, owner of ration depot number 193.He also told police that for unloading purpose he hired a Tata Mobile bearing registration No JKO2AG-2701 driven by one Sujeshwar Singh son of Vijay Paul Singh resident of H. No. 6/1, Subash Nagar.Police is conducting raid to arrest both the absconding persons.
