| Jammu-Poonch road blocked over kidnapping of girl | | | Rajouri: Traffic remained disrupted for hours when hundreds of people today blocked Jammu-Poonch National Highway over alleged kidnapping of a girl in bordering Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, police sources said today.
Demanding recovery of a girl allegedly kidnapped yesterday from village Kota in Mendhar, hundreds of people this morning assembled at Sangla Chowk and blocked the Jammu-Poonch National Highway.
Amid anti-police slogans, the protestors disrupted the traffic thus putting life out of gear.
The demonstrators alleged that a 21-year-old girl has allegedly been kidnapped by one Faheem Ahmed, resident of village Kota and despite registration of the case, police have failed to trace the accused.
The road, which was blocked at 1000 hrs in the morning, was cleared at around 1630 hrs in the evening after police and district administration assured arrest of the accused while the protestors have given two-day ultimatum and threatened to intensify the agitation thereafter.
