Critic of K leadership BAJ VP Slaria jumps on to Panthers' bandwagon

Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 28: Panthers Party chairman Bhim Singh's reorganisation movement is gaining momentum with each passing day. He has been able to induce a number of Jammu-centric groupings to join the movement aimed at achieving for what he calls "Duggar Pradesh" separate assembly and separate chief minister. He has also enlisted the support of a number of academics, artists, writers, poets, intellectuals and a number of former generals. Besides, he has been able to convince a number of advocates and lawyers of the need to seek a system of government that "liberates Duggar Pradesh from Kashmiri domination.
One of the prominent advocates, who have extended his unflinching support to Bhim Singh and his Panthers Party, is none other than Bar Association of Jammu (BAJ) Vice-President Mohammad Usman Slaria, son of senior NC leader and former Member of Rajya Sabha. He jumped on to the Singh's bandwagon yesterday during the meeting, held at Ashoka Hotel to discuss ways and means which could make the reorganisation movement reach a logical conclusion.
Extending his unqualified support to the ongoing reorganisation movement, Slaria made a very emotional and frank presentation. He bitterly criticised the Kashmiri leaders, including Late Sheikh Abdullah, and asserted that the "Dogras of Jammu province, including Muslims, have been discriminated against by the successive governments in the state" and that "all the Dogras, without any exception, have suffered at the hands of Kashmiri leaders."
Referring to the discontent and frustration among the Jammu youth, Slaria warned: "Things would go out of hand in case steps are not taken to mollify the unemployed graduates and post-graduates." Slaria assured Bhim Singh of his "fullest possible support" and urged him to "do something concrete in order to ensure the empowerment of the Dogras and end frustration among the Jammu youth."
So much so that Slaria questioned the credentials of Sheikh Abdullah and surprised everyone in the meeting by making one very startling revelation. He revealed: "Sheikh Abdullah was unhappy with his Nanaji because he had, like many other Muslims, not migrated from Jammu" and that "the Kashmiri leaders do not have faith in the Jammu Muslims."
Advocate Slaria not only championed the cause of the Dogras, but he also ridiculed those in Kashmir who question the accession of the state with India. He asserted with full force that the Issue of accession was settled long ago" and that "no one can re-open the issue." Obviously, he was referring to the statement of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in this regard.
His presentation established that the Dogra Muslims, "who have suffered like the other Dogras", were as patriotic and as Jammu-centric as others are. In fact, he took on those who had been trying to create a wedge between the communities. His comment that "Jammu province has not witnessed any communal clashes during the last more than two decades" clinched the whole issue and established that the Dogras are by nature secular, liberal and pro-India.
The entry of Slaria in the reorganisation movement is indeed a major development, as his action is bound to induce other liberal-minded and secular Dogra Muslims to join the movement and make it a mass movement. Bhim Singh was quite happy and why not?
