Army conducts Equine training course for Veterinary interns | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, July 29: Equine Training course for Veterinary Interns was conducted successfully on July 24 under Indian Army’s Operation Sadbhavana. A total of 51 Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry interns of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu were trained in finer aspects of Equine Medicine, Surgery & Management under the aegis of Headquarter 71 Sub Area by 3 Advance Field Veterinary Hospital. Speaking on the occasion, Brigadier Anil Khosla, SM, VSM, Commander 71 Sub Area appreciated the efforts of 3 Advance Field Veterinary Hospital in augmenting the therapeutic and diagnostic skills of budding veterinarians of the state. He also highlighted that the interest and enthusiasm of the interns towards the course was praiseworthy and that this course would serve to strengthen the bond between Indian Army and the Youth of Jammu & Kashmir. He also presented certificates and equine training manuals to all the trainees. Brigadier Deepak Badial, Brig RVS, Headquarter Northern Command who has being a guiding light throughout the course said that Remount Veterinary Corps has strived to utilize its presence in many remote pockets of the state in providing veterinary aid to farmers and livestock holders including Gujjars and Bakarwals. On this occasion he unveiled a précis on Equine management and treatment and congratulated all the interns on successful completion of the course. Dr. SK Gupta, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences, Jammu addressing the ceremony, lauded the effort of Army in undertaking such projects which provide specialized knowledge exchange. Other senior faculty members from Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences, Jammu also graced the occasion. Commandant, 3 Advance Field Veterinary Hospital emphasized the invaluable understanding of equine management and treatment that would enable young veterinarians to cope up with future challenges.
