6 lakh pilgrims offer prayers

Jammu, Jul 29 : Six lakh pilgrims have offered prayers at the Amarnath cave shrine so far since the annual 46-day pilgrimage commenced on June 29, officials said today. While 5,95,638 pilgrims paid obeisance at cave shrine till last night, over 4,400 pilgrims had darshan today. "The yatra is going on smoothly," they said. The yatra to the 13,500-feet high cave shrine situated in south Kashmir Himalayas is scheduled to end on August 13, coinciding with the Hindu festival of ''Raksha Bandhan''.
