Amarnath yatra: 3 more pilgrims die; death toll 89 | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 29: Three more pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh (UP), West Bengal (WB) and Gujarat died during pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalyas taking the death toll to 89. A yatri from UP identified as Lal Ji son of Sarwant, resident of Raj Mandir, tehsil Hatta, suffered a massive cardiac attack at Brari Marg on shortest Baltal route. He died before he could be shifted to medical camp, a yatra official said. Another 50-year-old yatri from WB Shanti Devi suffered a heart attack at Panjterni on traditional Pahalgam-cave shrine route. She was taken to medical camp where she was declared brought dead. He said Manoj Patel, wife of Patel Govind Dhar, resident of Ahmedabad died at Sheshnag. She was 63, official said. Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) has again urged all intending pilgrims to have themselves medically examined and no one with an orthopedic problem, chest or lung ailment or any cardiac deficiency should venture to undertake the arduous Yatra, involving trekking upto 14,000 feet.
