Lok Pal Bill, a mixed bag: ACM | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 29: Anti Corruption Manch Jammu has described the Lok Pal Bill finally approved by the Union Cabinet, to be presented in the moon soon session of the parliament as a mixed bag. While it has welcomed keeping Prime Minister out of the purview of the Lok Pal, the Manch has demanded that judiciary and the actions of members of parliament in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha be brought under the purview of the Lok Pal. A meeting of the anti-corruption Manch Jammu, held here under the Chairmanship of Baldev Singh Wazir observed that the dignity of the highest office of Prime Minister should not be made subject to scrutiny of ombudsman. However, after the Prime Minister demits the office his role in any alleged bungling, irregularity and corruption can be scrutinized by the Lok Pal, who can also take appropriate action in the matter. The Manch has also criticized the proposed committee for selecting the person as Lok Pal.The Cabinet proposal for a very large committee, giving weightage to the government about its members. Asking the Anna Hazara team of Civil Society to adopt a flexible approach and not be dogmatic in their stand, the Manch has said that the cabinet approved Bill is finally to go to the parliament for its approval.
