| Army organises debate competition for schools | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KISHTWAR, July 29:Major Sushil Aima Memorial Debate Competition was organised by the Rashtriya Rifles battalion in coordination with the Chief Education Officer, Kishtwar. The Debate Competition was organised at Government Higher Secondary School, Boys, Kishtwar from July 25 to 29.
The competition was conducted in three phases. The preliminary round was conducted on 25 July to 27 July wherein 40 students participated on each day. The first final was held on 28 July in which 30 students participated and the Grand Finale was held today in which the 10 selected students participated. This was the second consecutive year of the Debate Competition and it generated tremendous enthusiasm amongst the children of Kishtwar.
The Commander Sector Rashtriya Rifles was the Chief Guest and Mohd Hussain Malik, District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar was the Guest of Honour. In addition a large number of civil officials and educationists, were present for the Grand Finale. In the final round 10 students from various schools who were selected after a tough grueling competition, spoke on their selected topics. A large number of students of various schools from Kishtwar district alongwith their parents were also present to witness the competition.
Shivani Balla of Govt Secondary School, Kishtwar and Malik Irtiza of Islamia Faridia Higher Secondary School, Kishtwar stood first while Mohd Umar Butt of Green Model Academy High School, Kishtwar and Farhan Ahmed of Govt Higher Secondary School Boys, Kishtwar stood second & third respectively.
The Chief Guest gave away the prizes to the winners of Debate Competition. In addition Best School trophy was awarded to Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Kishtwar having maximum number of winners in the competition.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC Kishtwar Mohd Hussain Malik appreciated the efforts of the Army for conducting the Debate Competition and also lauded the participation and efforts of the students in making this event a grand success.
