Sham announces, AMT School, CT Scan & Critical Care Ambulance for Kulgam | | | SRINAGAR, JULY 29-In order to train adequate quality manpower locally, the Government will establish AMT Schools in every district headquarter. The step is aimed at selecting candidates from within the district to enhance the efficacy of local health institutions. This was announced by the Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma while addressing a one-day mega NRHM Samellan organized by the State Health Society at Kulgam today. Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Itoo, MLA Kulgam, Mr. M.Y.Tarigami, MLA Homshalibugh, Mr. Abdul Gaffar Sofi, MLC Mr. Mohammad Amin Bhat, Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Khan,Mission Director, NRHM Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Director Health, Kashmir, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director Indian System of Medicines, Dr. Abdul Kabir, Project Director, AIDS Control Society, Dr. Wasim Qureshi, Director Horticulture, Dr. G.H.Shah, Director Horticulture (Planning & Marketing), Mr. Mohammad Javid Khan hundreds of ASHA workers, doctors, para-medics, Sarpanchs, Panchs and prominent citizens of the area were present on the occasion. Mr. Sham said that Government was determined to upgrade the health facilities across the State and during the past two and half years a massive development has taken place. He said an effort has been made to strengthen the District and Sub-District hospitals with all necessary equipment in place to reduce the referral system. He said several reformative measures have been taken by the Coalition Government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and people have acknowledged the change at ground level. Stressing the need for further strengthening the monitoring mechanism, the Minister said that more steps will be taken to improve the present set up for achieving the desired results. He said steps taken in the past have started giving dividends at the grass root level and now everyone is aware about their responsibility and trying to achieve the targets set for every individual. He hoped that the department will touch new heights with the collective hard work of all sections of the employees in future. He said ASHAs are backbone of the department and responsible to educate rural folk about various ailments, particularly the pregnant women. They are doing commendable work and deserve encouragement, he said adding that Government has already enhanced their incentives from Rs. 600/- to Rs. 2250/- per case right from conception to delivery in the hospital. The ASHAs will get two sets of uniforms annually, separate seating arrangements in the health institutions and best performers will be suitably rewarded, said Mr. Sharma.
