Jora urges CEOs to preserve virginity of tourist places | Rather for promoting Yusmarg as adventure hub | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, July 29: Urging for preserving the virginity and landscape of tourist destinations, the Minister for Tourism and Culture Nawang Rigzin Jora today cautioned against tempering with the natural beauty of the tourist places. He said “Tourists come to Kashmir to seek solace, leisure and pleasure from the unmatched natural beauty which should not be compromised in the name of development works. Speaking at the 3rd meeting of the Yusmarg Development Authority (YDA) here today, Jora asked the officers and executive agencies to raise necessary tourist infrastructure in conformity with the surrounding beauty of a tourist destination. “The main objective should be to enhance the beauty of a particular place”, he added. Minister for Finance, A R Rather was also present in the meeting. Jora directed the concerned authorities to initiate measures for starting trekking to high postures like Bargah in the vicinity of the Yusmarg alongwith Zorbing, Hot air ballooning and mountain biking, adding that prominent and credible tour operators should be roped in to start adventure activities in and around Yusmarg. He said Yusmarg needs to be developed as a choice camping site adding that schools, colleges need to be encouraged and motivated for the purpose. Speaking on the occasion Rather urged the need for developing Chrar-i-Sharief-Yusmarg and Pakherpora as a major pilgrim cum tourist circuit. He also called for involving advanced technology to link Neelnag-Yusmarg and Bargah through a ropeway. “Hayjan Yusmarg is also ideal for Golfing”, Rather said adding that all the possibilities should be explored to construct a Golf Course there on some opportune time in future. He said that the center has approved Pakherpora as Tourist village for development, adding that Chrar-i-sharief has also been brought under the purview of YDA. It was informed that a modern TRC with latest Audio visual facilities would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 4.71 crore besides Rs. 4.67 crore Club Building at Yusmarg. An open air cafeteria would also be constructed at Doodganga, besides, Mountain Bike trail. On this occasion, the YDA launches its website www.yda.co.in. The site would be connected with the website of J&K tourism department.
