| WDC organizes awareness camp at Gurez | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, July 29: Continuing its efforts to popularize women entrepreneurship schemes in all nooks and corners of the state, Women’s Development Corporation organized an awareness camp at Gurez in Bandipora district.
A large number of women participated in the day-long programme to hear the speakers about the women empowerment schemes.
Development Officer, Kashmir, Showkat Ahmad Rather presided over the function, while local MLA Nazir Ahmad Gurezi was the chief guest.
Addressing the function, Gurezi said that Omar led coalition government has come up with a revolutionary Sher-i-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for youth, of which he said empowering skilled young women forms a component.
In his speech, the Development Officer urged the women to take to women entrepreneurship schemes under which hassle free credit is made available to prospective entrepreneurs for setting up their ventures. He added nominal interest is charged on the entrepreneurs for availing the credit under empowerment schemes.
The Development Officer said that there was a lot of scope for setting up units in dairy, sheep and other similar such sectors in Gurez. He explained all the formalities required for availing benefits under several empowerment schemes especially ‘Empowering Skilled Young Women’ programme.
