Over 1.5 lac pilgrims expected to visit Maa Kalli Temple.
Annual Machail Yatra all set to begin from Monday. Security geared up for over one month long yatra.

Kishtwar July 30:- Annual yatra of Matta Chandi (Goddess Kalli) commonly known as Machail Matta is all set to begin from Moday 1st of August 2011. The yatra which spread over 27 days will officially throw open for the general public from Monday, where as the Chari Yatra will leave the main Chandi Matta Temple at Bhaderwah on 18th of August and reach Kishtwar on the same day. After night halt at Girls Higher Secondary School Kishtwar, the Chari will leave for Padder next day and during its various stay at Gulabgarh, Matta Jawala Temple, Massu, Chasoti will finally reach at Machail on 22nd of August, where the main pujja and hawan will be performed for two days and on 25th the Chari will reach back to Gulangard Padder by the evening and finally back to Chandi Matta Temple Bhaderwah on 27th of August 2011. During the course of 27 days yatra, more than 1.50 lac pilgrims were expected to visit the temple for seeking the blessing of goddess Matta Chandi presented in the form of Pindi along with Murti of Maa Kalli (Pure Silver), Maa Saraswati (White Marble) and Maa Lakshmi (Asthdat (Mixture of 7 minerals)). District Administration along with police have made elaborated security arrangements though out 180 KM yatra route out of which near about 30 KM distance is to be covered by foot journey since there is no road connectivity to Machial village of Padder Tehsil of Kishtwar District situated at the height of some 12000 Ft above the sea level. Even though the Government of India have accorded its sanction for the construction of road from Gulabgard to Machail under PMGSY 4 years ago, but the pace of the construction work runs at snail pace. Beside security arrangements, artificial tents, bathrooms, drinking water facility, medical care and transportation arrangement have also been made for smooth conduct of month long yatra. Some local NGO’s and social organization have also started free langer service for the pilgrims at various places. In order to promote local culture and tourism, Department of Tourism and culture have also plans to install various stalls at Gulbgard representing various cultural and tourism potential of the area. Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Hussain Malik along with SP Kishtwar Bhim Sen Tuti is personally supervising the yatra arrangements and held several meeting with various officers including with the members of Sarva Shakti Sanstha, the main organizer of annual Machail Yatra to discuss the safety and security of yatries on top priority.
