CHPPWU sacks Tarighami's aide, seeks probe into his assets | | | Asif Iqbal Naik KISHTWAR, July 30: Chenab Hydroelectric Power Projects Workers Union in its high level meeting of workers and executive members at Kishtwar sacked its Union General Secretary Javed Zargar. Zargar is believed to be close confidant of CPI MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami. In a meeting, a unanimous resolution was passed against the sacking of Javed Ahmed Zargar from the post of General Secretary CHPPWU on the bases of the allegation of corruption and swindling funds worth corers of rupees accumulated through collection of money from the workers. Participants demanded probe into the property made by Javed Ahmed Zargar which includes computerized stone crusher plant at Bhalessa worth lakhs of Rupees, Gypsy Scorpio, Tipper, Maruti Car, JCB, Compressor Machine, Pokland Machine, residential Houses at Jammu, Bhalessa and Kishtwar. Zargar who initially joined M/S Jaiprakash Industries Ltd as helper in cooking mess on the recommendation of then MLA Kishtwar. Soon after joining, Zargar shifted to other wing of and later started working as Junior Pipe fitter in Dul Hasti Power Project. It was in the year 2003; Javed Ahmed Zargar came into limelight and started a movement against JP Industries after the company retrenched 1365 employees. Workers alleged that in the year 2008, Javed Ahmed Zargar also collected lakhs of rupees from workers of Baghliar Hydroelectric Power Project and subsequently a report was filed with labor commissioner regarding the collection of amount which led to cancellation of registration of CHPPWU. They union leaders alleged that it was due to negligence and corrupt approach of Javed Ahmed Zargar, no worker from District Kishtwar was able to find any job in any projects like Railways, H.E projects or National highway which leads to his expulsion from the post of General Secretary CHPPWU. It is worthwhile to mention that Javed Ahmed Zargar also contested unsuccessful election from Indarwal Constituency of Kishtwar District. He was instrumental in making several promises with laborers working in Dul Hasti Power Project. After MLA Kishtwar's intervention, JP Industries in an agreement with MLA Kishtwar agreed to pay 7 time compensation to all the retrenched workers. |
