Suhrawardy creating confusion among coalition partners, alleges Wani | | |
EARLY TIMES REPORT LEH, July 30:
Reacting to recent statement issued by a National Conference MLC Khalid Najib Suhrawardy, senior Congress leader and MLA from Doda Abdul Majid Wani said that the decision to skip Doda District Development Board (DDB) meeting was taken only to highlight certain loopholes existing in the system which have, more or less, tried to make such meetings a futile exercise. Moreover, it was also to convey resentment of people of this mostly hilly and backward district regarding meagre plan allocation as compared to plans approved for well developed districts of Srinagar and Jammu. And, MLA Doda had communicated this decision to the Chief Minister well in advance; also requested the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to either chair this meeting himself as a District Development Board cum Cabinet Meeting or authorize the Chairman of Doda District Development Board to announce release of funds to address long pending as well as urgent development issues. The Chairman of Doda District Development Board was also informed well in advance. It is fact that most of the decisions/ recommendations of District Development Board meetings of Doda District, right from year 2005, have not been implemented. It is a very serious negligence on part of few government functionaries. Wani further said that the MLC, who was rejected by the public of Doda repeatedly and was rehabilitated through backdoor entry, has tried to create confusion among the present coalition partners and mislead people to meet his own vested interests. Warning him to desist from his nefarious designs, Abdul Majid Wani demanded strict action against the NC MLC from Doda. As an elected public representative from Doda constituency, Wani has always successfully raised the local development issues before the Central as well the State Government. During last more than two and half years, as a true public representative Wani had regular interactions with the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and always have supported his mission for equitable development of all regions. But, these so called public leaders, which are rejected by the public from time to time and are least interested in growth and development of once almost forbidden public of Doda district, try to shield few corrupt as well as non-performing government functionaries for their petty interests.
