"Chhari Mubarak" taken to Shankaracharya temple in Srinagar | | |

The ''Chhari-Mubarak'', Holy Mace of Lord Shiva was today taken to historic Shankaracharya temple on the bank of Dal Lake on the occasion of ''Haryalic-Amavasya'' as per age old customs. Led by Mahant Deependra Giri, the custodian of Chhari Mubarak, a sizeable number of devotees, including sadhus, participated in the prayers which lasted for more than two hours. Chanting vedic hymns, Mahant Giri took out the Holy Mace from the Akhara temple, after pujan. Later, the Holy Mace was taken to Shankaracharya temple as per old customs on the occasion of Haryali Amavasya. Mahant Giri said pujan was performed chanting Vedic hymns by a sizeable number of sadhus and pilgrims for two hours. The Chhari Mubarak was later taken back to Akhara temple. Collective prayers were also offered for peace and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir State. He said the trust shall make all the necessary arrangements for sadhus and other devotees coming from across the country to join Chhari-Mubarak. He said the Chhari-Mubarak shall be taken to ''Sharika-Bhawani'' Temple in the down town city to pay obeisance to the Goddess tomorrow. The 46-day-long annual pilgrimage to holy Amarnath Cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas will conclude on August 13 when the holy Mace will be taken inside the cave shrine on Rakshabandhan.
